CRISIS: What can we do about the Coronavirus?

Here are some tips that can help you to DEAL WITH CIRCUMSTANCES:

  • ACCEPT THE SITUATION and rather than blaming and thinking about what steps the government should do. Be present and observe your feelings and accept them by focusing on your breathing and/or doing meditation/or sitting quietly and observing your thoughts and feelings for a couple of minutes.

  • SUPPORT EACH OTHER by checking-in, giving and asking for help and finding alternative solutions.

  • CALL A FRIEND/FAMILY MEMBERS/COLLEAGUE, especially if you feel anxious. Talk through and share your feelings. Even just talking about your fear and also knowing that everybody is dealing with the same fears helps you to process your feelings and also know what you can do about it.

  • REARRANGE YOUR PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT to make it more comfortable to work from home.

  • CREATE A NEW DAILY ROUTINE (healthy habits) that you and your family can stick to. Creating a new routine is in your control. We don’t know how long this quarantine is going to last, but we can create a new routine. Morning routine, working routine, meals routine, downtime routine (reading, watching a movie, going outside, being online, etc.). Don’t check the news continuously because it will make you feel anxious (check it in the morning, lunchtime and evening).

  • BUILD UP EXERCISE HABITS and training routines for every day that helps you to feel better and that also keeps you in shape (walking, running, doing online workout routines). We need a healthy immune system to get through this. Physical movement is important to keep your energy level and it also keeps you healthy.

  • FOCUS ON WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL. To lower your anxiety, create a list of what you can control and what you can’t. Otherwise, you will feel even more anxious. Make a list and highlight the three most important ones that you can control — and TAKE ACTION STEPS over what you can control.

  • CREATE A GRATITUDE JOURNAL, every day in the morning and/or evening write down three things for which you are grateful. It will help you keep your emotions positive.

  • ADD LEVITY. Finally, don’t forget to add levity, to have fun, even in these most difficult times.

Everybody is dealing with this uncertain situation where we have to accept emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually that it is what it is, and we have to face the TRUTH about what we can do.

These hard times, I believe, will make people rethink what is important. They will learn what it means to be in support of each other.

I know loved ones and friends are getting sick, businesses are falling apart, everything is getting turned upside down, major world/business/tech/science/sports events got canceled but it’s about the WHOLE WORLD, this is a WORLD CRISIS. Please be patient, practice acceptance and keep social distancing to slow down the spreading of the coronavirus. Let’s create humanity as much as we can in this difficult time.

BE WELL and TAKE CARE,
