I am happy to share that I had the privilege of leading the Women’s Empowerment panel discussion at the Table Tennis US Open in December 2023 as the Chair of the USATT Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. The panel consisted of Barbara Wei as the moderator, Tom Feng as the Secretary of the USATT DEI, Hall of Famer Donna Sakai, and myself. During the diversity and inclusion panel discussion, we shared our personal experiences as table tennis players and coaches in the US and provided insights on how to increase female participation in table tennis. We addressed the challenges and potential solutions to retaining female youth table tennis players and highlighted the benefits of the sport that can help them stay with it in the long run. The panel ended with a productive discussion and Q&A session, during which we engaged with the participants and had fruitful conversations.
