Excited that Table Tennis has Became an Official Varsity Sport in the New York City Public High Schools!

I was very excited to hear that table tennis and badminton became varsity sports in the New York City public schools. This is a turning point for the sports in the United Sates. Special thank you for the American Youth Table Tennis Organization (YTTO), Ben Nisbet, Susan Sarandon, Mitchell Seidenfeld, Andy Brockmann, League Commissioner and Steven Chan- Joola USA, along with everyone else who contributed to making this happen.

The interscholastic competitions for the 2014 season is already underway in 12 high schools. These team matches are gender specific, with equal footing for both boys and girls. In 2015, the league will move to the winter season and will hopefully expand to 24 high schools! The vision is to move from initially hundreds to eventually thousands of New York City high school students playing competitive table tennis.
